It took a moment for Daniel to recognize what he was looking at but when he did, he felt a chord of terror vibrate throughout his entire psyche. Memories of his upgrade flooded his mind, paralyzing him for a moment before the emotional surge-protector Cleo built kicked in.

“No..” he stammered, his voice coming out as an broken electronic moan. “Not again. You won’t upgrade me again!”

The older model cyborg retreated, mortified by the sheer concept that the cybermen were there. They were there and he wasn’t ready.

Starlight glistened on Daniel’s chrome plating as he strolled leisurely through the park. His hands were neatly tucked into the pouch of his sweatshirt, something Cleo and her brothers had given him that past Christmas to help him feel more human. It didn’t affect his cybernetics much, but it was a definite comfort when it came to the ordeal of being a Cyberman. 

‘Blimey, it’s nice to get out of the house,’ he thought and paused when his scanners detected something. It was an adult female human life form. Quickly he checked the time. 2:30AM.

‘What in the world are people doing up at this hour?’ he wondered, mildly alarmed but curious to see who was up and about this late besides himself.
